SNAP-Ed programs highlighted in Journal Tribune

An article in the Times Record featured Maine鈥檚 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program- Education (SNAP-ED) efforts to educate the public about how to make healthy food choices on a restricted budget.

The article championed the benefits of SNAP-Ed鈥檚 free programs such as Cooking Matters, which includes a grocery store tour and cooking demonstrations. It explained that for families in need, education programs are critical for ensuring they receive the greatest return possible from shopping with limited funds.

It went on to note the dramatic increase of SNAP-Ed programs since 2012, with as many as 1,800 people participating last year.
