The 91直播视频College of Dental Medicine seeks to matriculate compassionate, self-motivated Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) students who align with the mission of the College and who demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care, social responsibility, and professionalism. We are looking for a diverse and balanced student population and will consider both academic and non-academic criteria in assessing candidates for admission. We utilize a 鈥渨hole file review鈥 process to assess applicants in areas including academic preparedness and potential, community service experience, exposure to and experience in the dental field, career goals, leadership skills, maturity, personal qualities, and interpersonal skills.
 
Students in the D.M.D. program are treated as members of the profession and supported in a learner-centered environment grounded in trust, collegiality, and high ethical standards. The College is committed to providing a safe and effective environment in which students can learn; apply knowledge; develop skills and values; provide comprehensive, person-centered, evidence-based care; and develop to the level of an independent, competent oral health care provider. As a student in our program, you will complete a high-quality, current, and integrated D.M.D. curriculum that incorporates the latest in dental practices, equipment, and technology as well as principles in public health, health policy, and business. Our program emphasizes hands-on learning and practice 鈥 D.M.D. students begin developing their hand skills in our simulation clinic the very first semester of the program, and they gain early and extensive clinical experience in our Oral Health Center on the Portland Campus for the Health Sciences beginning in the first semester of the second year. During the fourth year of the program, our students benefit from valuable real-world patient care experiences during semester-long externship rotations at community-based sites in Northern New England, many of which serve rural and underserved communities.

Application Process

Doctor of Dental Medicine 4-Year Degree Program

  • All verified applications received on or before the November 1, 2024 application deadline will receive full admission consideration. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis.
  • Verified applications undergo an initial preliminary review for minimum requirements, after which select competitive applicants will be invited to submit the 91直播视频supplemental application fee.
  • Verified applicants who have successfully submitted all supporting documents, including the required 91直播视频supplemental application fee, will move to secondary review by the College of Dental Medicine faculty.
  • Highly qualified applicants will be invited to complete a virtual interview assessment via Kira Talent. All interviews are conducted by invitation only.
  • 91直播视频communicates all status updates, notifications, and admission decisions via email.

Doctor of Dental Medicine Advanced Standing Track for International Dentists

  • To be eligible for admission, applicants must have a dental degree from a non-U.S./Canadian dental school.
  • Verified applications undergo an initial preliminary review for minimum requirements, after which select competitive applicants will be invited to submit a 91直播视频supplemental application fee payment.
  • Verified applicants who have successfully submitted all supporting documents, including the required 91直播视频supplemental application fee, will move to secondary review by the College of Dental Medicine faculty.
  • Highly qualified applicants will be invited to interview (virtual or in-person, as determined by the College of Dental Medicine). All interviews are conducted by invitation only.
  • 91直播视频communicates all status updates, notifications, and admission decisions via email.

How can I find out about the status of my application to UNE鈥檚 Doctor of Denal Medicine program?

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your verified application from the Office of Graduate Admissions. All communication from Graduate Admissions will be sent to the email address listed on your AADSAS application. If you wish to check the status of your application please email the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Does state residency play a role in UNE鈥檚 Doctor of Dental Medicine admissions?

There are no quotas for Maine or New England students. Prospective students from all geographic regions are encouraged to apply for admission.

Can I update or make changes to my 91直播视频D.M.D. application post-submission?

Yes, updates can be made post-submission. Experiences can be added, but edits of previously submitted information is not allowed. Coursework can be updated during the Academic Update Period(s) for GPA recalculation. Coursework added outside of Academic Update Periods will not affect GPA calculations. Applicants are encouraged to submit updated or new DAT scores to ADA via AADSAS.

I am reapplying to UNE鈥檚 D.M.D. What do I need to do?

Applicants reapplying to the 91直播视频Doctor of Dental Medicine program need to resubmit all application materials for any new cycle in which they apply, including: primary CAS application, transcripts, letters of recommendation, written statements and responses, fees and payments, and any additional required documentation. Applicants should also actively update their experiences, extracurricular activities, clinical involvement, and volunteering each cycle as well, to reflect the most up-to-date engagement.
